A low-sodium Filipino-inspired wing recipe perfect for parties, Sunday night football, and honestly any day. These are perfectly zingy and deliciously crispy!

You'll Need...

  • 2 packs Kirkland Signature chicken party wings, about 2.3 lbs

  • 2 packets Calamansi juice (around 1 oz)

  • 1 tbsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1 cup canola oil

  • 1 bottle cold water OR cold seltzer water

  • Dry Mix:

    • 1/4 cup cornstarch

    • 1 tbsp garlic powder

    • 1 tsp ground black pepper

Directions

  1. Mix calamansi juice, garlic powder, paprika, and sugar until combined.

  2. Put chicken into a resealable bag. Pour marinade over all chicken pieces and let marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour.

  3. Right before the chicken is done marinating, prepare dry mix in a shallow bowl.

  4. Dunk chicken in cold water, then press each side into the dry batter mix.

  5. Heat canola oil in a pan on medium low heat.

  6. Fry wings for 5 minutes each side.

  7. Increase heat to medium high and fry each side of chicken for 2 minutes.

  8. Remove from heat and place chicken on a plate, draining on paper towels. Serve with carrots, celery, and low-sodium potato chips. Yum!

Chie's Notes

Cold water is great, but cold seltzer water is even better! We're not scientists so we can't tell you why, but the answer is probably somewhere on the internet.

This recipe tastes great with Chie's low-sodium ranch dressing, or Ray's Sweet Baby Sauce!
