What is CKD?

Chronic kidney disease (CKD), also called chronic kidney failure, involves a gradual loss of kidney function. Your kidneys filter wastes and excess fluids from your blood, which are then removed in your urine. Advanced chronic kidney disease can cause dangerous levels of fluid, electrolytes and wastes to build up in your body. (Mayo Clinic)

Chef Chie's husband Ray was diagnosed with CKD in 2022. The doctors recommended a strict low-sodium, low-phosphorus, and low-protein diet in order to maintain kidney function for as long as possible. Chie quickly got creative in the kitchen and redeveloped classic family recipes to accommodate Ray's dietary needs without sacrificing flavor.

Our family dinners are delicious and diverse thanks to Chie's problem-solving and kitchen wizardry, not to mention the love and care so clearly present in every dish she makes.

Just a reminder...

This website does not provide medical advice. Every CKD diet is unique to each individual, these recipes are just some dietary alternatives that worked for Ray's condition and our family's taste buds. Please consult a medical professional about what types of food you should avoid or incorporate within your diet.
